The first chemical attack nonplussed Iranian soldiers, as they had no such an experience before. After the attack, Ranjbar was drinking tea in the field. Mustard gas had entered his blood with that tea; he had no symptoms for several years. Ranjbar himself was a veteran assistant but now he had no assistance except from his love. His wife entrusted all five children of them to her parents and stayed beside her husband when he was in the hospital. None of those injections, surgeries, and medicines worked out and he martyred at last. After her brother, her husband was gone now. A couple of days later, she gathered her children and told them, “You must not cry at school… You can cry while praying or at your father’s graveside.
