Agonous

In 1985, many great victories gained by Iranian forces. After they conquered Majnoon Island, they also captured Faw; the complicated operation to do the latter, got a huge reputation even outside of the region and it accounted as a major defeat for Saddam. In such a mood, as Saddam felt weak to overpower Iranian soldiers, he chose the malicious usage of chemical bombs. The bombs did not target only the resistance lines, but they also perished some cities in Iran. Although Iraqi cities were under Saddam’s control, some of them did not stay exceptions and they received the same violent attacks. For these victims, war never came to an end and martyrdom was the only way to relieve from the long-lasting pain. In 1985, many great victories gained by Iranian forces. Although Iraqi cities were under Saddam’s control, some of them did not stay exceptions and they received the same violent attacks. For these victims, war never came to an end and martyrdom was the only way to relieve from the long-lasting pain. Martyr Mohammad Ali Ranjbar was a soldier suffered from these attacks for his whole life. The first chemical attack nonplussed Iranian soldiers, as they had no such an experience before. After the attack, Ranjbar was drinking tea in the field. Mustard gas had entered his blood with that tea; he had no symptoms for several years. Ranjbar himself was a veteran assistant but now he had no assistance except from his love. His wife entrusted all five children of them to her parents and stayed beside her husband when he was in the hospital. None of those injections, surgeries, and medicines worked out and he martyred at last. After her brother, her husband was gone now. A couple of days later, she gathered her children and told them, “You must not cry at school… You can cry while praying or at your father’s graveside. You have to live and gain experience… Do not make yourself contemptible and put others in trouble or beg for their pity.”“Agonous” briefly explains how the lasting suffering of a veteran affects his family and his wife remains lonely after his martyrdom and raises her children by herself with a great deal of problems.
