Loving those who you should not love, in the seventy-square-meter apartment, and failing to effectuate wishes which could be fulfilled, not even twelve years later! Thereupon, falling from the stairs of pride while having royal blood in your veins. Most minds are dealt with the covers of the holy book, the most exquisite one; strangers acquire the wisdom inside of it though. Hence, holding the brotherhood, while it may mislead you. In such a complicacy, perhaps you end up with the fifth day, having not reached its goal; you may not recognize the hand of God in the mountain when it is right in front of you. Perhaps you have a collection of pain and still, you see the beauty in it and stay beholden; you may receive an invitation for the spiritual retreat at God’s house if you shut your eyes for the sake of God. Perhaps you suspect someone while you do not know anything about the morning of Eid al-Fitr for the release of prisoners; you may become the most unrepeatable person in the world because you have been a kind janitor. You may see a successful boss like Gholamreza, knowing nothing of his efforts and willpower. Perhaps you are the thief of the carpet market who during your robbery, snatches the warp and woof of God and let free of yourself. Perhaps you are a considerate cleric at the training camp, people paying a lot of attention to your words, nevertheless, be aware! Sometimes, you need to reduce the speed so you may prove to toughness, how patient you can be. You may stand upon the gilt mirror, attire yourself to pray to the God and take one’s life with a tiny accusation, using the traveler’s check. Perhaps you are a father with a cigarette on your lips, railing your son who smokes the hookah. You may match the hair color of yours with the color of your dress, forgetting how your jealousy wonders people. You may find a mother; God rests her alongside her martyred son apart from any restlessness. You may label your neighbor as crazy, knowing not his madness is due to his resistance toward your enemy. You may be hurled on the ground by a youngster and after slamming the door, you remember your blunders when you were young. A plane crash, you are in, reciting the prayer book from the depth of your heart, you are saved, then neglecting the book under your feet. You might prepare for the Dubai contract, while death will clutch you soon. You may be shocked when the same old man that you called him as frail, helps you out in an examination. You could give the envelope of money out, casting the favor in his teeth, so your help is of no use, is of no dignity…
All these can be a part of my life or of yours, facing them occasionally. ‘The Gilt Mirror’ is a collection of 26 stories, the titles of which you just read. The motif of each story is derived from the Quran, concerned with understanding human beings and their behavior. This work is terse, rich, and fetching.
